Disaster Risk Management

Disaster Risk Management

Disasters create a significant impact in Nepal, often turning it into a disaster-prone zone. While disasters cause immediate poverty through the loss of lives and productive assets, the country's vulnerability to natural calamities is further heightened by encroachments in high-risk marginal areas. As a developing nation, Nepal relies on assistance and support from international communities and friendly nations to strengthen its capabilities for natural disaster prevention and reduction. Establishing early warning systems is recognized as a crucial element in this effort. Given Nepal's susceptibility to disasters, it's imperative to acknowledge its status as a disaster-prone zone. The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI - Nepal) actively collaborates with national and international organizations to increase community awareness about disaster risk management, aiming to mitigate the impact of disasters and build resilience in vulnerable areas.
